Word War — Privacy Policy

Effective date: 26 October 2026

Word War is a word game made by an independent developer. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and what it never does.

The short version

Word War collects the minimum needed to let you sign in and play with friends: an email address for passwordless login, a display name, and your game results. There are no ads, no analytics SDKs, and no tracking of you across other apps or websites. Nothing is sold or shared with advertisers, because there are no advertisers.

We do look at game results ourselves, to tune how hard games are and how the letters are dealt. That stays with us: it is never sold, shared, or used to track you.

You can play most of the game as a guest, with no account and no email at all.

How game results are used

If you play as a guest

A random identifier is generated on your device so the game can keep score. No email, no account, and no name is stored on our server. That identifier is saved on your device and stays the same until you delete the app or use Reset This Device in Settings; it is not derived from anything about you or your device, and it is not shared with anyone. Guests cannot use leaderboards, friends or challenges.

What is never collected

Where it is stored

Game data is stored using Supabase, a hosted database provider, acting as a data processor. Traffic between the app and Supabase uses HTTPS. Nobody outside the developer and Supabase's infrastructure has access.

Sign-in emails are delivered by an email provider solely to transmit your login code.

Children

Word War is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has created an account, contact the address below and it will be deleted.

Your choices

Retention

Data is kept while your account exists, and is deleted when you delete your account. There is currently no automatic expiry of old game history. Backups of the database, kept privately by the developer, may hold a copy for a while afterwards; a backup is never used to bring a deleted account back.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
